🧀 Cranberry Cheddar Scones
Ingredients:
-
225g self-rising flour
-
Pinch of salt
-
55g butter
-
150ml milk
-
100g Mouse House Cranberry Cheddar (grated)
Method Overview:
-
Prep: Preheat oven to 220°C (200°C fan) / Gas 7. Lightly grease a baking sheet.
-
Mix Dough: Combine flour and salt, rub in butter until crumbly. Stir in grated cheese, then mix in milk to form a soft dough.
-
Shape: Turn onto a floured surface, knead lightly, and pat to 2cm thick. Cut with a 5cm cutter.
-
Repeat: Re-knead scraps and cut more rounds.
-
Bake: Brush tops with milk. Bake 12–15 mins until golden. Cool on a wire rack.
🔪 Tips & Variations:
-
Extra Flavor: Add a pinch of cracked black pepper or a teaspoon of mustard powder for depth.
-
Sweeter Twist: Mix in a teaspoon of sugar for a slightly sweet-savory balance.
-
Texture Tip: Don’t over-knead the dough—just enough to bring it together, or your scones may be tough.
-
Serving Suggestion: Serve warm with butter, or alongside a hearty soup or festive chutney.
